GENA BLEIER

With deep consideration for the filmmaker’s vision, Gena Bleier delights in excavating the best from the dailies and shaping solid, captivating stories. With her keen eye for authenticity, her sharp narrative logic, her discerning sensibility, and her enthusiasm for collaboration, she commits all her skills to each project.

Bleier started her career as an assistant editor on celebrated Hollywood features such as, REALITY BITES, AS GOOD AS IT GETS, HEAT, MISS CONGENIALITY, MEAN GIRLS, and THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS. She went on to edit critically acclaimed independent films, including, Andrew Wagner’s STARTING OUT IN THE EVENING (Dramatic Competition at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, official selection of the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival) and Moon Molson’s short film THE BRAVEST, THE BOLDEST (2014 Sundance Film Festival). She was an additional editor on Jennifer Phang’s feature, ADVANTAGEOUS, which won a Special Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, and she edited Dee Rees’s short film COLONIAL GODS, which played at Outfest in 2009 and aired on the BBC.

Bleier’s editing credits span a wide range of genres, showcasing her versatility and skill at remaining true to the unique tone of each show. Her work includes the emotionally charged drama of OUTLANDER, THE ARTIST'S WIFE, and MAGIC CITY, the exhilarating science fiction, fantasy, and horror realms of MOTHERLAND: FORT SALEM, MARVEL'S CLOAK & DAGGER, and THE STRAIN, as well as the absurdist comedy of SHRINK and NTSF:SD:SUV.

Bleier has been a three time returning editor at the Sundance Directors Lab.
